This is by no means a complete or accurate list of Peter Fidler related surnames. It is intended as a reference only. Genealogists soon discover that almost every surname can have various spellings, sometimes numerous variations. Don't forget that in the "old days" literacy was not as common as today. Enumerators and record-keepers frequently erred with their spellings, and often both the interviewer and the interviewee did not speak English that well. Interpreting the horrific handwriting in microfiche records is often a real challenge. (As well birth, marriage and death dates frequently go into the records with unbelievable variations) First Nations people didn't really have surnames to begin with, and were often "assigned" European surnames upon baptism. Clergymen were not in great supply in the very early days either.
