Peter Fidler 1850-1941

Post by gladys » Fri Sep 02, 2011 11:06 am

I am new to this site, but when I was looking at it, I came across a picture posted with the information as being the Peter Fidler 1867-1948. This is not the right Peter as I have the pictures of my great grandparents, Peter Fidler 1850-1941 and Margaret Swain 1858-1943.These pictures were always on the farm in st. Catherines's, SK. and were given to me by their daughter (my grandfathers sister Catherine McKay) I have no idea who posted the picture but it should be identified correctly. Fay Lekopoy

Hi Gladys
The Peter FIDLER (1867-1955) in that picture married Frances Edith SPENCE and lived in Mapleton, Manitoba all his life.

This is not your ancestral Peter Charles "Peach Ass" FIDLER (1850-1941) who married Margaret SWAIN (1860-1943) and lived in Saskatchewan. I don't have a picture of him but would certainly love to have it. Perhaps I could feature a page for him as well.

Hi again- Firstly I must tell you that my computor skills are very limited. I'm not even sure how to send you a picture. Yes you have my gr grandparents as Peter and margaret and the picture that is shown is of MY gr. grandfather Peter born 1850 in Pembina. His father was also Peter who was married to Jane Lambert and he was the son of Charles .The picture of him that is posted has him identified as another Peter born 1867. The original pictures were in large oval frames and the picture that is posted is him. Fay Lekopoy

Now I get you!
OK, I guess if you are his great granddaughter and you have a matching picture to boot you must be right and I must apologize for putting his picture in the wrong place. I will certainly remove it shortly. Is that an exact match to the picture you have? If so then I already have it.

I will review my information about your great grandfather Peter FIDLER (1850-1941) and will post his story and place the picture there where it belongs in the next few days. Stay posted and I will look forward to your review and comments on the information I will put there.

I also have lots of info on the John Dougal McKAY (1827-1893) family who I guess is also your ancestor. Henry Richard "Hillyard" McKAY (1892-1976) who married Kate FIDLER must also be in your lineage. Can you tell me your McKAY parents' origins; birth date, who he married, etc (not necessary if he is still living; I will understand).

Hi- Thanks for understanding what I was trying to explain. I will get one of the kids to show me how to send a picture and then I could send the mate with Margarets picture. My grandfather was Alexander Peter born 1880 in St. Catherines and died in Flin Flon in 1965 My mother was Gladys Mildred born 27 July 1923 and died just this passed 7 Apr 2011 in Brandon .Alexander was married to Flora Adams from Lindsay district. As for gr Aunt Kate (Catherine Sophia) she was married to the McKay you mentioned and talked about his ancestor who was involved in the Rebellion. Sure is interesting this family history. Thanks again
