Thanks again, the only part where I got confused was where you wrote," His father, Baptiste, was a French Canadian born around 1797 in Montreal," did you mean "His father, Pierre"?

Or I could be scattered brained, which I am known to be....

Sorry, I screwed up on that one. Yes indeed, it was Pierre (not Baptiste). Thanks very much for letting me know. I have made the correction in Baptiste's write-up. My old brain is beginning to deteriorate too, I often make such typo errors.

Pierre AUBICHON may have been born earlier as well. Mormon genealogy indicates a Pierre AUBICHON who was baptised on July 25, 1795 in Berthierville, Quebec, son of Marie Anne PARENT & Jean Baptiste AUBUCHON. Not positive on that one, but this almost has to be the same man.

Also note the different spellings that are found in the records: AUBICHON, AUBUCHON, OBICHON and OBISHON.

So we aren't the only ones who screw things up once in a while. Those old record keepers often spelled names just by the way they sounded. They weren't always very literate in those days.

No worries, I just want to make sure I've got everything clear!

I was curious how you came upon Pierre Aubichon as Jean Bapitiste father? I did a search on the familysearch.org too and found a Jean Bapitiste, Christened on December 29, 1786 in Quebec, same location that is listed for Pierre Aubichon, of the same parents, Jean Baptiste and Marie Ann Parent. Looks to me that Pierre and Jean Baptiste could be brothers?...I don't want to sound like I'm being confrontational, just want to make sure it's all correct :)

That certainly would make that Jean Baptiste & Pierre brothers. I have no problem with that. If we have the right Pierre, that would make that Baptiste our Baptiste's uncle.

Here's the Scrip record regarding our Jean Baptiste as the son of Pierre.

So how would a person confirm that those two Pierres are the same person? I'm always so hesitant to write down in pen the dates and names when they only seem to look right...

I am not sure which two Pierre's you are referring to.

The only Pierre we are concerned about is the Pierre AUBICHON b-1797 (our Pierre) who married Marie DAZE (parents of Jean Baptiste AUBICHON who married Philomene GERARD).

At this point we have no documented information as to who his parents were. I certainly could be wrong in suggesting Marie Anne PARENT & Jean Baptiste AUBUCHON as his parents. I probably should not have even mentioned them at all. That is nothing more than an interesting possiblity.

Thanks for that information Friend

It is documented in the 1901 Census record that Julien AUBICHON was born at Green Lake.
Can you tell me where you got the information that he was born at Brochet, MB?

No, I am not directly related.
My wife is a descendant of Peter FIDLER, so there are family links.
I got involved in the AUBICHON genealogy from inquiries received on this Forum. Genealogy is my hobby, and I have vast amounts of information about families that link up with the FIDLER Tree and Red River.
