The Seekings
Hi let me introduce my self, my name is Jonathan Seekings and I only learned of our connection to Peter Fidler yesterday. To my knowledge I am the first member of the Seekings family to make this connection, please feel free to correct me if I am wrong. So let me give you a break down from Peter down to me and the Seekings family. The Seekings decsended from Alban Fiddler (until yesterday when I found this website Alban was as far as my brother and I had been able to trace) and his daughter Victoria Bremner, Victoria's daughter Jemima married George Shirtlife (also shown as Shirtcliffe) she died tragically in 1891. George and Jemima had 2 children Mary and Henry. After Jemima's death Mary and Henry went to live and were raised by their grandmother Victoria. The 1901 Canadian census mistakenly lists Mary and Henry as niece and nephew, but they were clearly Victoria's grand children. Anyways Mary was married to Robert Henry Seekings on July 6 1910 in Winnipeg. They had 9 children including my grand father Robert Trueman Seekings (born June 30 1924) my grandfather had 2 children including my father Daniel Robert (born November 9 1946). Which brings it to me, Jonathan Daniel Seekings (born June 5 1974). As a side note I have 4 boys, including identical twins. I am also a pilot and have flown into a number of the settlements and areas where Peter first explored and ran trading posts, which I find so neat.

Welcome to the Forum Jonathan!
I have several references where the surname is spelled SHIRTLIFF (without the E).
Yes, your break down matches perfectly with what I have, right down to Mary Victoria SHIRTLIFF & Robert Henry SEEKINGS. I didn’t have their children, but thanks to you I have a little more to add to my files.
I did find a John SEEKINGS who enlisted for WW I at Shoal Lake, MB. He was born Jul 11, 1889 in Woodhurst, Hunts, England and his father was George SEEKINGS from the same place. Looks like he may have been a brother of Robert.
