Regarding Richard Stevens employment with the Hudson Bay Company: Although there is not a biographical sheet for him readily available under, Biograpical Sheets, if you hunt around on the HBC site one can be found. There is a copy available of his original contract with HBC available dated May 8, 1816. He received 30 pounds for the year as a clerk.
We visited the HBC Archives in the fall and found him in a 1816-1817 Moose Factory Journal. He arrived on The Emerald Sept.23, 1816 at 4 P.M His tenure was limited because he was sent back to England because of his conduct but then returned later still in the employment of the HBC.
Apparently, he settled with his family in St. Andrews and his son did the woodworking in the St. Thomas Church in St. Andrews.
