John James Fidler son of first cousins?

Post by crystal » Fri Jan 02, 2009 7:04 pm

Hopefully someone can correct the info I have because what I have shows his parents as being first cousins..

John James Fidler B: 12 Oct 1878 St Catherines, SK D: 28 Dec 1941
Ethelton, SK M: Elizabeth "Eliza" Pruden Isbister (daughter of James Isbister and Margaret Bear) in 1895.

John James Fidler is the son of James Edward Fidler B: 24 Nov 1851 in Headingly, MB D: 17 Aug 1935 and Sarah Ann Swain B: 16 May 1852 in Headingly, MB D: 25 Nov 1938

James Edward Fidler is the son of Edward Fidler B: Jan 15, 1826 at Red River Settlement D: Jan 1913 and Nancy Anne Bremner B: Jul 27, 1832 at Red River Settlement D: Jan 20, 1881

Sarah Ann Swain is the daughter of Thomas Swain B: April 6, 1837 at Red River Settlement D: Apr 9, 1940 and Ellen Bremner B: 1831 at Red River Settlement D: Sept 4, 1928.

Nancy Anne Bremner and Ellen Bremner are the daughters of Alexander Bremner B: Jul 24 1791 Orkney, Scotland D: Aug 28, 1842 and Elizabeth Twatt B: 1787 at Headingly, MB D: May 13, 1885 effectively making James Edward Fidler and Sarah Ann Swain first cousins.

Have I made a mistake somewhere or is this correct?

Parents are not first cousins

Going by my information, there has been a mistake made. Sarah Ann Swain is not the daughter of Thomas Swain and Ellen Bremner. She is the daughter of John Swain and Elizabeth Lillie. Thomas Swain and Ellen Bremner's daughter was Sarah Elizabeth Swain, who married Miles Alexander Foulds. Hope this clears up any confusion. Feel free to contact me via e-mail, or call me on the phone. Anytime. Glad to communicate and give out any info that any cousins require. Barry Durie (Chilliwack, BC.)
